Covid Cleaning

As Part Of The Effort To Help Businesses Impacted By COVID-19

We at Mold Solutions & Inspections are responding to the current global pandemic by offering fully approved CDC cleaning for homes, businesses and facilities. Our World Health Organization participation in Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) for Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), has assured our countless customers that our employees know the severity of providing detailed cleaning to any business so they may stay open during this pandemic.

Current evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 & other viral respiratory illnesses in households & community settings. It is unknown how long the air inside a room occupied by someone with confirmed COVID-19 remains potentially infectious.

Covid Cleaning

The issues that most businesses & even homes face today is the common surface touch points such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets & sinks, gas pump handles, touch screens, ATM machines, & more.

Simple spraying of chemicals will not efficiently keep your home or business free from potential Covid-19 transmission, while hiring a company not trained in this particular type of cleaning could result in damage to personal products due to over saturation of said chemicals.

We at Mold Solutions & Inspections have been providing full Bio-Hazard Cleaning and Infectious Disease Cleanup since 1998, and we are a certified IICRC firm which means every employee within our company completes extensive yearly training. We use the most advanced equipment and up-to-date techniques, while following CDC guidelines so your business may remain open during this pandemic. We also offer discounted rates for

Control & Prevention

Measures for protecting workers from exposure to, and infection with, SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), depend on the type of work being performed and exposure risk, including potential for interaction with people with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 and contamination of the work environment.

Covid Cleaning2

Employers should adapt infection control strategies based on a thorough hazard assessment, using appropriate combinations of engineering & administrative controls, safe work practices, & personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent worker exposures. Some OSHA standards that apply to preventing occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 also require employers to train workers on elements of infection prevention, including PPE.

General Guidance For All Workers & Employers

For all workers, regardless of specific exposure risks, it is always a good practice to:

  • Frequently wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. When soap and running water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand rub with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Always wash hands that are visibly soiled.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Practice good respiratory etiquette, including covering coughs and sneezes.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home if sick.
  • Recognize personal risk factors. According to U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), certain people, including older adults & those with underlying conditions such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, are at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19.

10 Steps To Reduce Workplace Spread of Covid-19

  1. Encourage workers to stay home if sick.
  2. Encourage respiratory etiquette, including covering coughs and sneezes.
  3. Provide a place to wash hands, or alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60% alcohol.
  4. Limit worksite access to only essential workers if possible.
  5. Establish flexible worksites, (e.g., telecommuting), & flexible hours like staggered shifts if feasible
  6. Discourage workers from using other workers phones, desks, or other work tools and equipment.
  7. Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces, equipment, and other elements in the work area especially touch points which could contain the highest amount of respiratory droplets.
  8. Use Environmental Protection Agency, approved cleaning chemicals with label claims against Coronavirus.
  9. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the use of all cleaning and disinfection products while assuring no employees or persons within the dwelling are exposed to chemicals which may have adverse health effects on the individuals themselves, such as allergic reactions or inhalation exposure to certain chemicals.
  10. Encourage workers to report any safety and health concerns.

Signs of Mold Issues

Mold can grow in any level of your home if you have excess moisture or humidity issues. Identifying signs of water damage, or problem area early on can minimize your chances for mold growth and thus needing remediation. Here are some of the main area’s inside and outside your home that lead to mold growth:

  • Recurring water leaks from plumbing, HVAC systems, and building defects like roofing and/or foundation leaks.
  • Adverse health effects which include coughing, runny nose, persistent headaches, etc.
  • High levels of humidity in your basement along with musty odors.
  • Water stains in walls, ceilings or floors.

Mold Basics

Molds are part of the natural environment. Molds are fungi that can be found anywhere – inside or outside – throughout the year. About 1,000 species of mold can be found in the United States, with more than 100,000 known species worldwide. Indoors, mold growth should be
avoided. Problems may arise when mold starts eating away at materials, affecting the look, smell, and possibly, with the respect to wood-framed buildings, affecting the structural integrity of the buildings. Molds can grow on virtually any substance, as long as moisture or water, oxygen, and an organic source are present.

Mold Remediation2

They reproduce by creating tiny spores (viable seeds) that usually cannot be seen without magnification. Spores continually float through the indoor and outdoor air, thus requiring mold remediation .Molds are usually not a problem unless mold spores land on a damp spot and
begin growing. They digest whatever they land on in order to survive. There are molds that grow on wood, paper, carpet, foods and insulation, while other molds feast on the everyday dust and dirt that gather in the moist regions of a building. When excessive moisture or water accumulates indoors, mold growth often will occur, particularly if the moisture problem remains uncorrected.

Mold Remediation3

All molds share the characteristic of being able to grow without sunlight; mold needs only a viable seed (spore), a nutrient source, moisture, and the right temperature to proliferate. This explains why mold infestation is often found in damp, dark, hidden spaces; light and air circulation dry areas out, making them less hospitable for mold. Molds gradually damage building materials and furnishings. Since mold requires water to grow, it is important to prevent excessive moisture in buildings. Some moisture problems in buildings have been linked to changes in building construction practices since the 1970s, which resulted in tightly sealed buildings with diminished ventilation, contributing to moisture vapor buildup.
